This sweet in-home newborn session took place just outside of San Jose, and it was such a beautiful reminder of why I love photographing families in the comfort of their own homes. We began the session in the master bedroom, where the soft window light created a calm, intimate setting for both family photos and solo images of the sweet baby, who was just about three weeks old. At this age, newborns are often wonderfully sleepy and snuggly, which allows for gentle, natural moments.


Because this session took place during the holidays, we also included Christmas-themed newborn photos, using a stocking that was meaningful to the family along with a few holiday accents. I’m always happy to incorporate props or items that are special to you — whether that’s a stocking, a blanket knitted by a grandparent, or another meaningful heirloom. These personal touches help make your images feel even more timeless and connected to your family’s story. For baby’s solo photos, we kept things soft and minimal, using neutral swaddles, the holiday stocking, and a few simple seasonal details to keep the focus on baby while still capturing the joy of this time of year. We ended the session in their lovely kitchen, with visiting grandparents joining for a few photos as well.


Sessions like this are a perfect example of my approach as a San Jose in-home newborn photographer — relaxed, baby-led, and focused on creating meaningful images in the spaces where your family’s memories are unfolding.
