An Extended Family PHOTOgraphy SESSION at Vasona Lake | Los Gatos Family Photographer
There’s something special about gathering multiple generations together, and this extended family session at Vasona Lake County Park in Los Gatos was full of genuine smiles, laughter, and connection. We met during golden hour, just before sunset, when the warm summer light created the most beautiful backdrop for family portraits. Vasona is one of my favorite locations for family photography because of its mature trees, lake views, and gorgeous evening light.
One of my favorite parts of photographing extended families is capturing all the different relationships that make the family special. We photographed the entire family together, then created a variety of smaller groupings—from grandparents with grandchildren to individual family units, siblings, cousins, and special parent-child moments. These combinations become treasured keepsakes for years to come.
The younger children brought so much enthusiasm to the session and were excited to smile for the camera. Their joyful personalities made photographing them a delight, and we captured so many genuine expressions throughout the evening. One of the highlights was when their teenage cousins joined in on the fun by lifting the younger kids for a playful “muscle pose.” It had everyone laughing and made for some wonderfully candid moments that perfectly captured the family’s fun-loving spirit. It was such a pleasure meeting everyone for this beautiful evening session!
